Mauritius in brief

Located in the Indian Ocean, approximately 2000 kilometers east of mainland Africa, the island of Mauritius is an oblong mass of coral reefs born out of a primeval volcanic eruption.

The island enjoys a great tropical climate with mild temperature all year round. Winter last from May to October with a temperature range of 17 ºC to 23 ºC and summer from November to April with temperatures ranging from 23 ºC to 33 ºC.

The island (2040 sq.km) is surrounded by perfect white beaches with turquoise water and lush greenery in the central highlands. You may also wanna try your luck in one of the casinos on this beatiful island. We recommend you to read the rules before and a good practise can be to visit Casinohawks.com and learn more about casino and the different games.

Mauritius was discovered by the Arab sailors in the 9th century and first colonized only in 1598 by the Dutch, naming it after the Prince Maurice de Nassau. Later, the French took possession of the island. After a major naval battle in 1810, the French subsequently gave the island and its dependencies to the British.

Mauritius obtained its independence in 1968 and became a republic in 1992.

Even though the official language of Mauritius is English, most Mauritians speak French. Some people are proficient in other oriental languages apart from German and Italian.
